Our Principals

  David is a financial executive bringing a wealth of experience after spending more than 30 years in the public and private Real Estate sector, holding various progressive executive roles with national public accounting and real estate companies. David possesses a proven history as a strategic leader driving financial results while ensuring financial controls are in place to safeguard integrity of data and assets. He is a founding partner of Kastner Accounting & Consulting Services and has spent the last eight years as the President providing Chief Financial Officer services to national real estate developers, owners, funds, property managers and CRE lenders. Prior to co-founding KAC, David served in various roles including three years as Portfolio Controller at Starwood Retail Partners, L.P. overseeing all aspects of the implementation of accounting systems, financial controls, and investor/property financial reporting for two retail real estate funds with a combined value in excess of $2.5B. Before Starwood, Dave spent fifteen combined years in public accounting working as a Director at RSM McGladrey, Inc overseeing their national real estate fund accounting and tax work primarily servicing the GEM Capital account and at Ernst & Young, LLC Real Estate Assurance and Business Services, providing audit services, external financial reporting, and managing relationships with senior executives of publicly traded and private companies in all sectors of the real estate industry. David engages in philanthropy and currently sponsors non-profit organization events focused on  Childhood Cancer, Breast Cancer, and Childhood neurological disorders. David has his B.S. in Commerce & Accountancy from DePaul University and is a Certified Public Accountant (inactive).

 Annette is a co-founding partner of Kastner Accounting & Consulting Services Inc. At KAC she has serviced several Real Estate Investment Fund clients, Service companies  (Trades, Entertainment and Property Management). Prior to joining KAC full-time in 2022, Annette served as CFO of a national real estate firm specializing in Property Management, Commercial Brokerage and Project Management. There she oversaw Financial Reporting (board, shareholder, regional and divisional), Tax Compliance, Risk management, Human Resources, and the Internal Control Environment.  Prior to her CFO role, she spent ten years in the multi-family real estate industry as a Vice President/Controller overseeing property, corporate and development accounting for institutional clients. Earlier in her career she worked for Vice President and fund controller for a real estate investment management firm overseeing the reporting and tax for 2 private investment funds with more than $380 Million in Capital.  She has also lead a 60+ person Property Accounting team for CBRE. Annette is committed to giving back and serving. She sits on the Advisory Board for the Chicago Chapter of CFO Leadership Council, is the Treasurer and a board member for KidsToo.org, a charity focused on child protection.  She is also a founding board member for W.I.S.E. (Wisetribe.net), focused on empowerment and mental health for female executives.  Annette has her B.S. in Commerce & Accountancy from DePaul University and is a Certified Public Accountant (inactive).

Chris has been providing CFO, CPA and Tax services to small businesses and entrepreneurs since 2014 where he has specialized in the Medical and Real Estate industries. He prides himsed in his ability to setting up and maintaining cloud accounting solutions for clients to support their growth.  He is well versed in complet accounting models and also provided tax preparation services to clients from his organization, CFO Now.   Chris is a member of CFO Leadership Council and a licensed CPA in Illinois.  He has also served on the The Trotter Legacy Foundation as a past member of their Board of Directors.  Prior to providing CFO Services full time, Chris spent time as the CFO of a  midsized Chicagoland Real Estate firm who invested in and managed commercial real estate.  His out of the box thinking and work ethic are great assets to all of his clients.

 Kate Daufeldt, CPA is a senior finance and accounting professional with over 20 years of experience in the real estate industry, spanning both public and private sectors. Kate's asset class experience is broad and includes industrial, office, multifamily, hospitality, medical office, manufactured housing, student housing, and land development. She brings deep expertise in REIT compliance and reporting, financial consolidations across multiple entities and structures (including partial-interest acquisitions), joint venture reporting, intercompany reconciliations, and development and construction accounting. Highly analytical and detail-oriented, Kate is also known for building and leading high-performing teams and implementing scalable accounting processes. She is technically adept and proficient in Yardi Voyager, Procore, QuickBooks, Concur, Ramp, and the Microsoft Office Suite.  She enjoys driving efficiencies and supporting informed decision-making at the executive level.

 As an associate with Kastner Accounting & Consulting, Patrick works with a variety of clients handling various aspects of financial reporting, data analytics, and financial planning. Patrick obtained his Masters In Accounting in December 2025 from Michigan Technologial University (MTU) following his completion of a Bachelor's degrees in Accounting and Bachelor's in Management Information Systems with a concentration in data analytics in April 2025.  At MTU Patrick consitantly made the Dean's list and was a nine time GLIAC Academic All Conference winner, in addition his on the field acolades as an member of the Football team, where he was a running back and lead the special teams unit.  Patrick is currently pursuing his CPA and has spent two summers interning at Baker Tilly in the Real Estate Group.
